Our clinical teams comprise of qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapists who lead on the assessments and treatments of patients. A team of therapy assistant practitioners, technicians and assistants support the qualified staff and carry their own delegated caseloads.
Our admin teams are based on both sites and provide admin support to all of our department including reception services and the booking of out patient appointments.

Nursing Assistants & Maternity Support Workers
Occupational Therapists may be required to work flexibly across two sites and to support a seven day service. Specialties include medicine and surgery, orthopedics, neurosciences, stroke, upper limb unit, rheumatology and rehabilitation unit.
New physiotherapists joining the Trust will be part of our Band 5 rotations which include stroke, out patients, medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, critical care and neuro across both the Rugby and Coventry sites.

Therapy assistants support the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in providing therapy interventions to patients within that specialty. The role also includes undertaking a variety of non-clinical tasks to ensure the efficient day to day running of the service and team.

The post holder will undertake and complete the elements of the senior healthcare support worker standard (level 3) apprenticeship. This will involve working with an assessor to develop a work-based portfolio; undertaking work based assessments, completing all assignments/projects relating to the apprenticeship standard and completing end point assessment. The post holder will receive paid study time within their working hours to complete their apprenticeship.

Physiotherapist Job Advert
Some physiotherapy assistants work in the local community. They could be based in health centres. Some treat patients in their own homes, nursing homes, day centres or schools. Others work in private clinics and voluntary organisations or charities.
As well as working with physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants work with other healthcare professionals including occupational therapists, orthopaedic surgeons, prosthetists, orthotists and nurses. They spend a lot of time with patients.
There are no set entry requirements for physiotherapy assistants. Employers expect good numeracy and literacy and some experience or qualifications in health or social care. Employers may ask for GCSEs in English and maths. They may ask for a BTEC or equivalent vocational qualification in health and social care.

Employers often ask for relevant work experience. Even where this is not specified, it would be an advantage if you have worked in health or social care, either in paid employment or voluntary work. You will be given the training you need to do the job, including an introduction to the department and its procedures and how to set up and use the equipment.
Working For Us
Physiotherapy assistants can become associate members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. The Society runs courses, conferences and seminars where physiotherapy assistants can update their skills and network with others doing similar work.
With experience, you could become a team leader supervising the work of other physiotherapy assistants. You could apply to train as an assistant practitioner or, with the qualifications needed for entry into university, as a physiotherapist.
Your standard working week will be around 37.5 hours and may include a mix of shifts, such as nights, early starts, evenings and weekends. You’ll be paid on the Agenda for Change (AFC) pay system, typically starting on band 2.
