The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has assured people of South East that his government would focus on restructuring, job creation, as well as offer incentives for business growth in the region, if elected.
Atiku also promised to engage in efforts that would address security challenges and consolidate existing peace, unity and overall development of the country.
The former vice president, who made these promises during his campaign in Owerri, at the weekend, said he would set aside $10 billion to empower young men and women in businesses.

He stated that PDP did a lot in its years in power, which led to growth and development, and would do more if reelected to power in 2023. He said: “I know the entire South East is yearning for restructuring of the country, and we will work with the National Assembly to ensure powers are devolved to federating units.
“I know that you are mostly businessmen and traders. I want to assure you that if I am elected president, the economies of the zone will pick up again, because, in my policy document, I noted I am going to set aside $10 billion to empower women and young men in business.
“The PDP witnessed the greatest growth during its years. We shall repeat it, and even surpass what we did when we were in government. I assure you that, and I swear to God that we are capable of doing it again. For this reason, the South East people have no reason to vote for any other party than PDP.”

Earlier, the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, urged the people of the state not to allow division in the party, but to work together to ensure Atiku, as well as other PDP candidates win in February 2023.
He said: “Once we win the presidency, take it that Imo is back in the hands of PDP, and we will take governance from there. The good news is that Imo is a PDP state. Last time we won, and in February 2023, we will still win, because Igbo people are wise. But I don’t want you to be divided.
“Also, if we win, the issue of insecurity, which is a big problem in Imo, will be a thing of the past, because you voted for a president, who understands the country, and had controlled security services as vice president.”
