At Amazon Shipping Foundation Technologies (ASFT), we are looking for Software Development Manager with strong hold on technology and program managerment. Responsibilities are cross functional as they include (but not limited to) software, processes, technology, different domains, Stakeholder management etc. A key superpower for a SDM in this role must be to work with a product's various Business stakeholder, Sr technical / non technical leaders and Development Managers to solution for complex use cases, put up detailed plan, track progress / risks and measure impact for cross cutting projects.
The candidate need to not only excel in operating at a strategic level but also need to understand when to dive deep to keep the project on track. Specifically, As SDM one must set the bar on the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines. Along with that, the person need to clearly and concisely communicate, both verbally and in writing, with senior management on status, risks and required mitigations to maintain project commitments.
